River of Life |
I've Got a River of Life
I've got a river of life flowing out of me!
Makes the lame to walk, and the blind to see.
Opens prison doors, sets the captives free!
I've got a river of life flowing out of me!
Spring up, O well, within my soul!
Spring up, O well, and make me whole!
Spring up, O well, and give to me
That life abundantly.

Ezekiel 47:1-12 speaks of waters that issued out from under the sanctuary located just north of Jerusalem. This river will flow south through the city and then divide into two parts. Half will flow into the Mediterranean and half into the Dead Sea. In summer and in winter it will flow and create life where ever it goes.
Normally a river starts as a much smaller body of water such as creek which will flow together with other creeks until it is emptied into a body of water called a river, and then this river along with other rivers are emptied into a sea.
John 7:38 speaks of rivers of living water that will flow out from the believer in the innermost being of a person. This is speaking of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in which Jesus is the one doing the baptizing. The water of the Holy Spirit bubbles up and overflows the one being baptized. This incident precedes the Power that is given from this baptism. As this power flows through the believer, then the song above speaks of what should happen in a person's ministry.
We are to continually be filled with this power of the Holy Spirit which will enable us to manifest the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that we would be able to do greater things than He did. We need to pray in the Spirit and with the understanding as Apostle Paul instructed us.
I feel that we are on the precipice of such an outpouring of the power of the Holy Spirit that we could not believe it until we see it actually happening. I want more of the Holy Spirit. I want a closer relationship with the Lord. I want to feel the power of His might, and that is what I pray for all of God's children. Amen and Amen!
